This year Cherry Hill has decided to incorporate the 7 Sacred Aboriginal Teachings into our student
recognition program. Each new month, a Sacred Teaching is focused on in the classroom through lessons
and teachable moments. Val Leibel, a teacher at Cherry Hill with aboriginal heritage, created some wonderful
classroom resources for teachers. Students of the week are chosen from each classroom that exemplify the
particular Sacred Teaching of the month. These students have their picture and a short write up posted on our
school wall. In addition, they are honoured in our monthly assembly with a certificate tailored to the specific sacred teaching. September and October focused on Respect, and November was Courage. Our next Sacred Teaching is Honesty, and will be honoured at the end of January.
